Licensing

Your Canvus client must have an up-to-date license. The license defines the scope of your deployment. For example, it specifies the maximum size of the screen that Canvus client will run.

You must obtain an activation key from your MultiTaction representative. You can then use this key to generate and activate your Canvus client license. Alternatively, if your host server cannot connect to the internet, you can use the activation key to generate a license request. Obtain an activation key

Your MultiTaction representative will provide you with a 16-character activation key for your Canvus client license. After receiving your activation key, you can:

• Activate your license. Choose this option if your Canvus client is currently connected to the internet; see activate-client-license.
• Request a license. Choose this option if your Canvus client is not connected to the internet; see generate-client-license-request.

Activate your license

If your Canvus client is connected to the internet, you can submit your activation key to automatically request, receive and activate a license for the current computer.

Follow these steps:

1. Start Canvus client manually (not from Launcher)
2. If Canvus has no valid license, the license wizard launches.
3. From the drop-down list, choose Online: Use activation key to register online. Then click Next.
4. When prompted, enter your Canvus activation key. Then click Next.
5. Wait while your Canvus license downloads. Then click Finish. Your Canvus installation is now licensed and activated.
6. Canvus now starts automatically.

Note

If you start Canvus client using Launcher, the licensing wizard will not be displayed.

Generate a license request while offline

If your host server cannot connect to the internet, you can generate a license request file for your Canvus client.

Follow these steps:

1. Start Canvus client manually (not from Launcher)
2. If Canvus has no valid license, the license wizard launches.
3. From the drop-down list, choose Offline: Create license request.
4. When prompted, enter your 16-character license activation key. Then click Next.
5. Save your Canvus license request file. For example, Canvus.cslicensereq. You can save this file on the local computer or, for example, on a USB device.
6. Send your license request file to support@multitaction.com.
7. After MultiTaction Support have processed your license request, they will send you a license file. For example, MT-Canvus.cslicense.
8. When you receive your license file, save it onto your application computer. You can save this file to any folder; the license wizard will move it to the correct location when you activate your license.

Note

If you start Canvus client using Launcher, the licensing wizard will not be displayed.

You now need to activate your license; continue to activate-client-offline.

Activate your license while offline

Now activate the license that you received from MultiTaction. Follow these steps:

1. Start Canvus client manually (not from Launcher)
2. If Canvus has no valid license, the license wizard launches.
3. From the drop-down list, choose Offline: Activate license. Then click Next.
4. In the next wizard screen, select the license file that you received from MultiTaction. Then click Next.
5. Wait while your Canvus license is activated. Then click Finish. Your Canvus installation is now licensed and activated.
6. Canvus client now starts automatically.

Tip

If you installed Canvus client in desktop mode, it automatically opens in full screen mode. To toggle out of full screen mode and into windowed mode, press F11.
