Licensing

Your Canvus server must have an up-to-date license. The license defines the scope of your deployment. For example, it specifies the maximum number of Canvus clients that can be used simultaneously and the license expiry date.

You must obtain an activation key from your MultiTaction representative. You can then use this key to generate and activate your Canvus server license. Alternatively, if your host server cannot connect to the internet, you can use the activation key to generate a license request. For details about where activated licenses are saved, see server-license

Obtain an activation key

Your MultiTaction representative will provide you with a 16-character activation key for your Canvus server license. After receiving your activation key, you can:

Activate your license

Note

You must be connected to the internet to use this method.

If your server is connected to the internet, you can submit your activation key to automatically request, receive and activate a license for the current computer.

Follow these steps:

  1. Launch a web browser and navigate to your server\'s web UI
  2. Sign in as an administrator user
  3. Navigate to Admin area > Settings > License
  4. Enter your activation code in Activate license and click Activate license

Tip

You can also activate your Canvus server from the command-line:

  • Windows: "C:\Program Files\MT Canvus Server\bin\mt-canvus-server" --activate <activation key>
  • Ubuntu: sudo /opt/mt-canvus-server/bin/mt-canvus-server --activate <activation key>
