Creating content

Creating new content on a canvas can be done by dragging and dropping files from your desktop or by using the finger menu.

Adding files to canvas

You can add files, (such as images, video, PDFs, etc.) to a canvas from your Windows or Linux desktop by drag and drop.

Notes

You can create notes of different colors to add comments or text to a canvas.

To add a note:

  1. Open the finger menu.
  2. Press the note button.
  3. Select the note color.

Images

You can add images from your Windows or Linux desktop by dragging and dropping them on the canvas. You can also use image search to quickly search for images on the internet.

To perform an image search:

  1. Open the finger menu.
  2. Press the search icon.
  3. Enter keywords to search.
  4. Press Image search
  5. Press and hold on an image you want to add.
  6. Drag and drop the image on the canvas.

Web browsers

You can add web browsers on a canvas as follows:

  1. Open the finger menu.
  2. Press web browser

Remote Desktop Protocol connection

Canvus client has a built-in Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) client. See rdp for details.

Video streams

You can play video streams on the canvas. For example, you can display video streamed from a webcam or you can play a video running on an external computer.

You can add multiple video streams to a video stream widget, switch between video streams, and edit the video stream name and URL.

Canvus supports an extensive range of protocols for decoding video streams, including HTTP, RTSP, RTP and UDP.

Add a new video stream

  1. Open finger menu
  2. Press the toolbox button
  3. Press the connect to a video stream button
  4. In the video stream address dialog, enter the URL for the stream or webcam.
  5. Tap the connect hotspot to start streaming the video

Uploading content using web UI

You can also upload any file-based assets or notes to a canvas using the Canvus Connect server web UI.

To upload content using the web UI:

  1. On the Canvases page, find the canvas you want to upload content to and double-click it to open it (or follow a shared link given to you).
  2. From the toolbar on the left, select Upload a file or Upload a note as needed.
  3. The uploaded content will be placed in the uploads-folder of the canvas. The contents of the uploads folder can be accessed using the Canvus desktop client.
