Sharing canvases
You can share canvases and folders you store on a Canvus Connect server with other users on the server. When you share from Canvus Connect, you can control whether people can edit or only view the content.
You can also share canvases and folders with groups of users. When members are added or removed from the group, they will gain or lose permission to the files and folders the group can see or use.

Prevent others from sharing your shared content

To make it so that only the owner can share:
- Open the Share dialog for a canvas or a folder either in desktop client or web UI.
- Uncheck the Allow editors to change access and add people
Make someone else the owner
By default, you own any canvas or folder you create in Canvus. You can transfer the ownership of a canvas or folder to someone else.
Warning
After you change the owner, you won\'t be able to:
- Transfer ownership, even back to yourself
- Delete the canvas or folder
To transfer ownership:
- Open the Share dialog for a canvas or a folder either in desktop client or web UI.
- In the Access column, select Owner for the user you want to transfer ownership to
Note
The owner must be a user. You can not transfer ownership to a group of users.
Shared links
You can share canvases with anybody, including people who are not registered on the Canvus Connect server, by making a canvas accessible via a shared link for Guests.
To create a shared link, open the Share dialog in desktop client or web UI and choose the access for Canvas link. You can choose between Anyone with the link can view, Anyone with the link can edit, and Only people added can access.
After specifying access, copy the shared link and share it with whoever you want to have access. People who follow the shared link do not need to register an account on the Canvus Connect server to access the canvas. Registered users will appear on the canvas under their own names, while unregistered users will be shown as Guests.
Note
Shared links accessible by anyone without an account on the Canvus Connect server are only available if Guest user access has not been blocked by an administrator.
Only canvases can be shared with links. Shared links are not available for folders.
Saving Canvus Connect servers in desktop client
The Canvus desktop client can remember previously used Canvus Connect servers in the canvas list. This may be useful if you receive a shared link to canvas and want to remember the server where the canvas is stored for later access without having to find the link every time.
To save a Canvus Connect server in the canvas list:
- Open a shared link to a canvas to see the canvas in the desktop client
- Open the canvas list
- In the Unsaved servers section on the left panel, expand the dropdown menu next to the server name
- Select Add to servers
Tip
You can also add servers to the canvas list by editing the client\'s configuration file. See client-configure-canvus-connect for details.
